Two years of construction updates, community speculation, and social media countdowns are over. TNT Pizza opened at 221 Third Avenue in downtown Chula Vista on May 27, 2026, and the lines haven't stopped since.
The San Diego-born pizza shop took over the former Attitude Brewing Company space, right next door to Tender Hooligan. If you've walked Third Avenue in the last six months, you've seen the buildout. Now it's done. And it looks nothing like the old space.
What TNT Pizza Brings to Third Avenue
TNT isn't a chain. It started as a single shop in Pacific Beach and built a following on thick, square-cut pies with crispy edges and soft centers. The Chula Vista location is the company's push into South Bay, and the timing couldn't be better. Third Avenue has been adding restaurants and breweries for the last three years, and the corridor from E Street to G Street is now one of the most active dining stretches in the South Bay. 3 Punk Ales is two doors down. Chula Vista Brewery is up the block. Filippi's Pizza Grotto has been anchoring the pizza scene on Third Avenue for years, and La Bella Pizza draws families from across the South Bay.
But TNT does something different. Their Detroit-style pies come out of the oven in blue steel pans, with cheese that runs to the edge and caramelizes against the metal. It's a style you can't find at many places south of the 8. The menu also includes wings, salads, and a rotating list of specialty pies.
Third Avenue's Dining Streak Keeps Going
TNT joins a run of new openings that have changed the look and feel of downtown Chula Vista. Suzette, the French breakfast and lunch spot from chef Jerome Gombert, opened at 310 Third Avenue in January. Acqua e Farina brought Roman-style Italian food to the block. And Mujer Divina, the coffee-and-burrito shop run by chef Priscilla Curiel, continues to pack the house most mornings. Curiel is also working on a new taqueria concept in the adjacent storefront.
Brewjeria Taproom & Kitchen, which opened its first San Diego County location on Third Avenue, added to the block's craft beer lineup alongside Novo Brazil Brewing on Lane Ave and Groundswell Brewing.
Getting There and What to Know
TNT Pizza is at 221 Third Avenue in downtown Chula Vista, between E and F Streets. Street parking is available along Third Avenue and the surrounding blocks. The restaurant is open for dine-in and takeout. Hours and the full menu are posted on their Instagram at @tntsdpizza.
If you're planning a visit, pair it with a walk down the rest of Third Avenue's dining corridor. Grab a beer at 3 Punk Ales before dinner, or finish with something sweet from Hans & Harry's Bakery. Third Avenue on a Friday night in 2026 looks nothing like it did five years ago. TNT Pizza is the latest proof.
