Chula Vista Brewery on Third Avenue opened in 2017 as San Diego County's only Black- and Latino-owned brewery, founded by an active-duty U.S. Navy veteran. The Third Avenue taproom anchors the South Bay's craft beer corridor alongside other independently owned producers such as Novo Brazil Brewing, and a second location in the Eastlake district launched on November 11, 2021. One of a handful of Latino head brewers operating in California runs small-batch production on site, rotating Belgian-influenced ales, hazy pales, and West Coast IPAs through the tap handles. Weekly Mariachi Sundays bring a live brass-and-string ensemble into the taproom, pairing regional Mexican music with communal long-table seating that draws pre- and post-show crowds heading to North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre on the Bayfront. The flagship Guerita Blonde Ale uses a clean California ale yeast strain fermented at controlled temperatures to produce a crisp, low-bitterness session beer calibrated for South Bay's year-round mild climate.
