About

One of the few San Diego venues where wedding guests can sink their toes in the sand during the ceremony, Garty Pavilion sits at the north end of the Coggeshall Rowing Center at 1220 El Carmel Pl in Pacific Beach, 92109. The pavilion is an extension of the historic San Diego Rowing Club, whose mission since its founding has been to foster rowing at all levels through recreation, competition, and camaraderie. Architect and club member Randy Hanna designed the space with an elongated hull-shaped ceiling that references the sleek lines of a rowing shell, and 12-foot-tall sliding glass walls open to panoramic views of Mission Bay. The combined indoor-outdoor area spans roughly 2,000 square feet and accommodates up to 200 guests for ceremonies, receptions, bar and bat mitzvahs, and corporate events. Couples hosting rehearsal dinners often reserve a table at Oceana Coastal Kitchen, which shares the same Mission Bay waterfront setting just a short distance away. Robyn, the venue's on-site coordinator, manages logistics and has earned consistent praise in reviews for handling last-minute weather changes and vendor coordination with ease. The pavilion operates seasonally from Memorial Day through the end of September, and summer events benefit from SeaWorld fireworks visible across the bay. The space houses a century's worth of rowing artifacts, and the San Diego Architectural Foundation recognized the building with an Orchid Award for its design. Guests looking for an Italian rehearsal option also book Enoteca Adriano on Turquoise Street for its intimate wine-country atmosphere. Wedding venue fees start at $4,000 for Sundays and $5,000 for Saturdays and holiday weekends, with outside catering and BYOB permitted.
