Operating under City of San Diego Park & Recreation, Ocean Beach Recreation Center manages reservations for Dana School Fields, Bill Cleator Fields, Plumosa Park, Dusty Rhodes Park, and Collier Park from its Santa Monica Avenue facility. Indoor programming runs children's cooking classes, peewee multi-sport (baseball, basketball, soccer, T-ball), gymnastics, dance, arts-and-crafts, and pickleball drop-in, with after-school music referrals directed to neighborhood lesson studios — most often the woodwinds and piano program at Paper Moon Music Lessons - Point Loma. On-site facilities include indoor and outdoor basketball courts, a lighted softball field, and the passive Bob Kenny Field — bookable for permitted tournaments through the Recreation Council. The Ocean Beach Recreation Council meets quarterly to vote on facility-use applications, capital priorities, and city-grant allocations. Adult programming has expanded to include third-party intramural leagues using court space evenings and weekends, plus body-weight conditioning cross-promoted with the heated mat rotation at Yoga Box. The center's most logistically complex production is its share of the annual Ocean Beach Kite Festival weekend, when staff coordinate with OBMA, lifeguards, and city Park & Rec crews on registration tables, food vendor permits, and beach-fly judging across the OB shoreline.
