Ballast Point Brewing in downtown San Diego's Little Italy operates the company's research-and-development brewery and tasting room at the corner of India and Ivy, the first craft brewery to stake a presence in the neighborhood when it arrived in 2013. Fifty-plus taps pour the core lineup — including the World Beer Cup gold-medal Sculpin IPA — alongside small-batch experimental beers brewed on-site, an R&D taproom model that Stone Brewing Tap Room - Kettner mirrors with its own satellite draft list on nearby Kettner Boulevard. A full kitchen sources antibiotic-free proteins and line-caught fish for a New American menu of shareable plates, burgers, and a dedicated children's menu. Three private cabanas line the outdoor patio, and the enclosed Kettle Room seats guests for a dedicated private-dining menu paired with experimental draft pours — a multi-format depth that extends the India Street beer corridor anchored by Karl Strauss Brewing Company's own downtown brewery-restaurant a few blocks south. The on-site R&D brewery produces one-off fermentation experiments that never reach the main Miramar production facility, making this the only location to taste Ballast Point's most limited creations.
