About

Villains Brewing Company in downtown San Diego's East Village opened its second location in 2025 at 903 Island Avenue, taking over the historic bi-level house that formerly held Half Door Brewing for a decade, with direct sightlines into Petco Park from the upper-deck patio. Head brewer Brad Kominek — whose resume spans Noble Ale Works and Green Cheek Beer Co. — brews the core lineup on a 10-barrel system in-house, including the Great American Beer Festival bronze-winning Mexican lager Saca La Bolsita, served with a packet of limón salt clipped to the rim, alongside Mission Brewing - East Village's production-scale lagers in the same neighborhood. The beer menu rotates through West Coast IPA Fire, hazy IPA We're Goin' in Circles!, an Irish-style red ale, and San Diego-exclusive one-off batches brewed specifically for the East Village taproom. A barbecue-forward food program from parent company Smoke & Fire pairs smoked beef brisket and smash burgers against the house brews, extending the brewpub's Anaheim kitchen identity into a Padres game-day dining format that competes with the pub menus at East Village Tavern+Bowl down the block. Padres watch parties on the upper patio, trivia nights, karaoke, and multi-course beer-pairing dinners featuring spirits from sister company Broken Spirits Distillery round out the event programming for large-group buyouts.
