Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve spans 190 acres around seven man-made lakes on Fanita Parkway, fed by two million gallons of recycled water processed daily through the adjacent Padre Dam Ray Stoyer Water Reclamation Facility. The preserve's on-site Santee Lakes General Store supplies fishing tackle, bait, camping provisions, and firewood to day-use visitors and overnight campers across 300 full-hookup RV sites. Seven lakefront and three floating cabins offer waterfront lodging with private fire rings and shared pedal boats, and the Topwater Grill restaurant serves a California-American menu on an expansive dining deck overlooking Lake 6. More than four acres of on-site solar panels generate roughly half the preserve's total energy demand, a sustainability infrastructure visible from the Carlton Hills Boulevard entry corridor near Mary's Donuts & Coffee at 8959 Carlton Hills. The fishery stocks Lakes 1 through 5 for general-admission anglers and reserves Lakes 6 and 7 for registered campers, maintaining year-round populations of catfish, trout, bluegill, and bass across the 190-acre system fed by a two-million-gallon-per-day reclamation loop.
