Since its 2008 founding by drummer and educator Tim Staump, Staump Music School in Santee has trained over 3,000 students from its flagship campus at 9530 Pathway Street, earning NAMM membership and coverage from Fox 5 San Diego. The school offers private and group instruction in guitar, bass, piano, drums, voice, ukulele, flute, and music composition alongside a state-of-the-art recording studio where students produce original tracks, a creative pipeline that feeds the same East County youth development mission supported by the Santee Teen Center on Arlette Street. Rock-band group classes segment by age — KidzRock for ages four through seven, Jr. Rock for seven through eleven, and Rock Band for twelve and older — giving young musicians ensemble experience with stage-ready material. Masterclass programming has brought touring artists to the Santee campus, including sessions with Mark Schulman, whose drumming credits span P!nk and Cher world tours. Tim Staump chairs the annual Santee Street Fair and served six years on the Santee Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, channeling the school's student performers into the same live-music ecosystem that draws audiences to venues including Alibi on Mission Gorge Road.
