Tacos El Gordo has over 11,000 Google reviews and a 4.5 rating. It's the most-reviewed restaurant in Chula Vista by a wide margin, and the adobada tacos are the reason. Aqui Es Texcoco specializes in barbacoa prepared Texcoco-style. Birrieria y Menuderia Guadalajara does birria and menudo for the weekend morning crowd. TJ Oyster Bar serves seafood cocktails and ceviches that rival anything you'd find across the border.
Bonita
Romesco Mexiterranean Bistro on Bonita Road blends Mexican and Mediterranean flavors in a way that's unique to the South Bay. Their tamarind martini is the signature drink. Better Buzz Coffee Bonita handles the morning crowd with specialty lattes and cold brews.
Breakfast and Brunch
Broken Yolk Cafe draws weekend lines for omelets and pancake stacks. Aunt Emma's Pancakes has been serving the South Bay since the old days. Family House of Pancakes and Franco's Flapjack Family Restaurant compete for the Saturday morning crowd. Talavera Azul Chilaquiles does the best chilaquiles plate in the South Bay, no contest.
