About

A United Nations ECOSOC-accredited 501(c)(3) in Point Loma, San Diego, My Chosen Vessels directs its stateside operations from West Point Loma Boulevard in the Midway District. Founded in 2009 and registered as an NGO in Kenya, the organization channels San Diego-based fundraising into clean-water infrastructure, education facilities, and cultural preservation for Maasai communities — cross-border development work that parallels the philanthropy coordination at Alianza Fronteriza de Filantropía. A council of fifteen traditional Maasai chiefs spanning Kenya and Tanzania guides every program, ensuring that each well site and schoolroom reflects indigenous governance rather than outside prescription. To date, the Sustainable Clean Water for Life initiative has delivered potable water to more than 85,000 Maasai people across both countries. That capacity for managing multi-year capital campaigns from a Point Loma SD base mirrors the operational scaffolding that Mission Edge provides to other area nonprofits navigating complex fiscal sponsorships near Liberty Station. The organization's capstone deliverable is the Maasai Education Center in Amboseli, Kenya — a legacy campus designed to serve indigenous students for generations while preserving a culture that predates colonial East Africa.
