About

A 2020 Excellence-in-Theatre-Education Tony nominee runs Theatre Arts School of San Diego in Point Loma's Liberty Station. The school's founder brings credits from the original WICKED companies and both National Broadway tours of RENT into the youth-training curriculum, staged a block from professional theater neighbor Cygnet Theatre. Classes cover acting, musical theater, singing, dance, playwriting, stagecraft, and filmmaking, with instructors drawn from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and respected regional houses. Small-cohort sizes drive the pedagogy — the non-competitive program balances individual creative development against ensemble work, carrying students from audition technique through full production runs. Original productions, staged readings, and student plays go up at the school's studio and at larger Liberty Station stages including The Joan and Irwin Jacobs Performing Arts Center, giving young artists a credit-earning performance pipeline. The summer conservatory runs multi-week intensives in playwriting, musical theater, and college audition prep, coaching advanced students through BFA portfolio pieces, sixteen-bar cuts, and new-work commissions that premiere at season-end showcases.
