About

Spanning 190 acres along Mission Bay at 500 Sea World Dr. in San Diego, CA 92109, SeaWorld San Diego is a theme park, accredited zoo, and marine life attraction that has drawn visitors to Pacific Beach since opening its gates in 1964. The park operates under United Parks & Resorts (NYSE: PRKS), the corporate name adopted in 2024, but the San Diego location stands apart as the original SeaWorld property and the first to debut the Orca Encounter educational presentation in 2017. Thrill-seekers line up for Emperor, California's tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster at 153 feet, as well as Arctic Rescue, a launched straddle coaster with 2,800 feet of track that opened in June 2023. Families with younger children head to the Sesame Street Bay of Play area, where Tidepool Twist, Rescue Riders, and Rescue Rafter keep the little ones entertained. JRDN Restaurant on Mission Boulevard sits just minutes from the park entrance, giving visitors a waterfront dining option before or after a full day of attractions. The Bayside Skyride gondola, running since 1967, carries passengers over Mission Bay for one of the best aerial views in the neighborhood. SeaWorld's conservation program has assisted more than 41,000 animals to date, and the SeaWorld Conservation Fund has contributed over $20 million to nearly 1,400 research organizations on every continent. In 2025, the park debuted Jewels of the Sea: A Jellyfish Experience, featuring a 10-foot acrylic archway of live jellyfish and one of the tallest jelly cylinders in the country at 14 feet. Journey to Atlantis, the park's first coaster dating back to 2004, was also reimagined with refreshed storytelling, new water elements, and updated visual effects. The boardwalk at Waterbar is one of the most popular sunset dinner spots for parkgoers winding down their evening. Active military discounts, wheelchair-accessible facilities, free and paid parking options, and advance ticket purchasing round out the visitor experience.
