Restaurateur John Rudolph—the same operator behind Harry’s Coffee Shop in La Jolla, Cass Street Bar & Grill, The Venetian in Point Loma, and Mike’s Taco Club in Ocean Beach—opened Harry’s Taco Club at 4612 Cass St in Pacific Beach, 92109, in April 2020. The taco shop shares a kitchen with Cass Street Bar & Grill and operates through a separate entrance carved into the building’s northern wall where the shuffleboard table once stood. That shared setup means diners can order Cass Street classics like torpedo sandwiches alongside Harry’s Mexican comfort menu of tacos, burritos, carne asada fries, and breakfast plates. Craft beer drinkers in the neighborhood often pair a stop here with a pint at SD TapRoom, just a short walk away on Cass Street. The trifecta taco, stacked with fish, shrimp, and scallop, has become a standout order alongside the Cali burrito and the spicy shrimp taco with customizable house-made sauces. Happy hour runs daily from 2 to 5 PM with two-for-one margaritas. Rudolph has since expanded the Harry’s Taco Club brand to locations in Ocean Beach, East Village, and Del Mar, but the PB original on Cass Street remains the flagship with outdoor sidewalk seating and a loyal local following. Ocean-view dining is also nearby at Waterbar on Grand Ave, where the rooftop patio overlooks the Pacific.
