About

Barbara Bailey learned the framing trade from her parents on Long Island before moving to San Diego and co-founding Aztec Graphics Custom Framing with her husband Rick in 1983. The family-owned, women-identified business started at Kobey's Swap Meet, moved to a storefront near San Diego State in 1989, and settled at 1439 Garnet Ave in 92109 in 1991. Today the shop is run by Rick, Barbara, and their son Tim Bailey, and its 2,200-square-foot space sits a short walk from Filippi's Pizza Grotto on the same stretch of Garnet. Aztec carries San Diego County's largest in-store poster inventory with over 4,000 prints in stock, including rare out-of-print pieces dating to the 1970s. The shop holds an A+ BBB rating and a 4.9 Google rating across 145 reviews, numbers that place it among the top-rated frame shops in the city. Garnet Avenue regulars often pair a framing visit with a pint down the block at The Local Pacific Beach. Custom framing, shadow boxes, canvas stretching, and ready-made frames are all available, with prices that undercut national chains by significant margins. Aztec also partners with local print company Orange and Park, stocking their non-standard-size prints in ready-to-go frames, and operates three online storefronts under the Poster America name on Etsy, eBay, and posteramerica.com.
