Ocean Beach Athletic Area Robb Field is a 68-acre City of San Diego athletic complex along the San Diego River at 2525 Bacon Street, anchored by the City's first municipal skateboard park. The skate park, designed with input from local skaters and opened in February 2000, is a 40,000-square-foot concrete street-and-bowl course where competition-track skaters supplement bowl sessions with strength training next door at Performance360 | Strength & Conditioning Gym. The field inventory includes eight softball fields (one lighted), five unlighted multipurpose fields, twelve lighted tennis courts, four lighted handball courts, two lighted basketball courts, a tennis practice wall, permanent rugby goals, and portable soccer goals. The Robb Field Fitness Club operates four workout rooms — one outdoor — stocked with free weights, universals, treadmills, lifecycles, and rowing machines available to City rec-card holders. Saturday youth-league traditions across baseball, lacrosse, and flag football end with team trips for the post-game maple-bar at Christy's Donuts on Voltaire Street. The most operationally complex weekend on the calendar is the spring softball tournament day, when up to eight diamonds run simultaneous bracket play with concurrent skate-park demos, requiring Park & Rec staff to coordinate field-prep crews, concessions vendors, and traffic-control parking on Bacon Street and West Point Loma Boulevard.
