Barona Drags in Lakeside is an NHRA-sanctioned 1/8-mile drag strip on the Barona Indian Reservation at 1750 Wildcat Canyon Road, roughly five miles north of Barona Resort & Casino. The asphalt strip — originally constructed as a sand drag course before being paved — hosts the NHRA Summit Series, Crower Cup Series, and Renegade Bracket races, rounding out a Wildcat Canyon motorsport corridor that also includes Barona Creek Golf Club on the resort property. Street Legal Friday Night events run a run-what-you-bring format, allowing licensed vehicles to compete on a sanctioned surface rather than public roads. RPM Barona Drags brings pre-1940 automobiles to the strip for vintage flathead and early V8 competition, while the annual Carlsbad Racers Reunion honors the legacy of the shuttered Carlsbad Raceway. Post-race crowds heading back down the Hwy 67 corridor toward Lakeside stop at Cafe 67 on Mapleview Street near El Capitan Stadium. Spectator seating, a dedicated pit area, and an on-site concession stand support race-night operations, with overnight camping permitted for multi-day bracket events.
