Koyo Studios is operated by artist Koyo Corey Ray — a decade-long San Diego tattoo artist who lived in Japan and trained in Japanese calligraphy before bringing an impressionistic-realism style to custom sleeve work, cover-ups, and fine-line designs. The studio also provides full-face permanent makeup: eyebrows with pencil shading, eyeliner with lash extensions, two-tone lip color, and cheek blushing — a cosmetic tattoo range broad enough that clients report skipping daily makeup entirely for two years without touch-ups. That dual tattoo-and-permanent-cosmetics model distinguishes Koyo from Bay Ink Tattoo & Piercing on Girard, which focuses on decorative ink without cosmetic application, and from Stori Line Tattoo on Fay Avenue, which specializes in cosmetic nano-needle work but does not do full-sleeve decorative pieces.
