UC San Diego Health Medical Offices North

Primary Care

About

UC San Diego Health Medical Offices North occupies a clinical wing at 200 West Arbor Drive on the main Hillcrest hospital campus, housing outpatient primary care, specialty clinics, and diagnostic services adjacent to the inpatient tower. Ambulatory specialty volume on the campus is increasingly shifting into the new McGrath Outpatient Pavilion at UC San Diego Health, the six-floor 250,000-square-foot facility at 4250 First Avenue that opened July 28, 2025 to absorb outpatient load during the Hillcrest campus redevelopment. The Medical Offices North wing handles adult primary care, routine labs, vaccinations, and pre-operative workups for patients scheduled at the adjacent hospital. Acute issues that escalate during a clinic visit — chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe infection — transfer directly to the UC San Diego Health Hillcrest Emergency Department, the 36-bed academic emergency department housed in the same hospital tower. Clinic staff document inside the UCSD School of Medicine's integrated electronic health record, keeping inpatient, outpatient, specialty, and emergency encounters visible across a single continuous patient chart. The highest-complexity cases managed from this wing are multi-specialty pre-transplant workups, oncology continuity care, and post-ICU follow-ups where primary care, surgical subspecialty, and pharmacy all coordinate inside the same campus footprint.
