A veteran of The Santaluz Country Club and The Prado kitchens opened Crest Taco in December 2025 inside a recently redesigned walk-up kiosk at 3980 Third Ave in Hillcrest. The menu centers on traditional Mexican preparations using butcher-block meats, fresh produce, and zero seed oils in every item from the salsas to the proteins, a clean-ingredient taco philosophy distinct from the battered-fish focus at Oscars Mexican Seafood down the block. No canned foods enter the kitchen aside from tomato paste, and all cuts for the carne asada, al pastor, and breakfast taco programs are hand-selected. The on-site bar pairs draft beer with the taco menu in a fast-casual counter-service format, running a taco-and-craft-beer operation that parallels the pizza-and-pint model at Hillcrest Brewing Company Bar & Pizzeria. Mulita and volcán-style tacos built with hand-selected proteins and house-ground salsas represent the most technique-driven items on the board.
