Operating as the AIDS Healthcare Foundation's first wellness center in San Diego since opening in October 2021, AHF Wellness Center sits on the second floor at 3580 Fifth Avenue in the Marston Hills section of Hillcrest. Walk-in HIV testing and chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis screening are delivered without insurance gatekeeping through a tablet-registration workflow, with positive results routed to in-house treatment at the same Fifth Avenue address through AHF Healthcare Center - San Diego. PrEP and PEP enrollment are handled by patient care specialists on-site, including assistance accessing the medication regardless of insurance status. The center identifies as LGBTQ+ owned-operated and staffs bilingual English-Spanish counselors, an alignment with the gay neighborhood the Hillcrest corridor has anchored since the 1970s. AHF clinicians handle the screening and counseling side but do not perform skin biopsies or laser dermatology, routing patients with antiretroviral-related rashes or Kaposi sarcoma lesions to outside offices such as Dermatology & Laser Center of San Diego. The site's most ambitious operational lift is the all-in-one flagship model, co-locating the wellness program, a full-service AHF Pharmacy filling antiretrovirals, and an Out of the Closet thrift store under one Fifth Avenue roof so retail revenue directly subsidizes the testing and treatment program.
