Inn at the Park

Resort

About

Housed in the 1926 Italian Renaissance landmark designed by architect Frank Allen — the same hand behind Balboa Park’s Cabrillo Bridge and the 1915 Panama-California Exposition buildings — Inn at the Park occupies the seven-story former Park Manor apartment hotel spanning Spruce Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. The 75 all-suite units range from 524 square feet for studio-king layouts up to 1,100 square feet for two-bedroom configurations, preserving original period floor plans, high ceilings, and Sealy Posturepedic beds, and sitting one block from the 1905 Craftsman Marston House at the northwest corner of Balboa Park. Every suite includes a full kitchen, dining area, and separate living space, and a complimentary deluxe continental breakfast is served from the rooftop Top of the Park penthouse with panoramic views across Balboa Park, San Diego Harbor, and the downtown skyline. WorldMark by Wyndham operates the property today under the Extra Holidays brand, having inherited it after the Shell Vacations portfolio acquisition integrated the former independent listing. Full-kitchen suites make in-room meal prep practical for extended stays, with the closest pastry and dessert counter four minutes up Spruce at Extraordinary Desserts’ Bankers Hill flagship. The property’s highest-complexity booking is the two-bedroom 1,100-square-foot suite for multigenerational families working through San Diego Zoo, Old Globe Theatre, and Balboa Park museum itineraries, where the full kitchen and separate sleeping areas replace the need for multiple hotel rooms and restaurant meals across a week-long stay.
