About

Solana Beach Police Department operates out of the San Diego County Sheriff's North Coastal Station at 175 North El Camino Real in Encinitas, where Solana Beach's contract policing shares the same 113-member command structure that serves Encinitas and Del Mar. Deputies assigned to the Solana Beach contract handle patrol, traffic enforcement, and domestic-violence response, the latter requiring close referral coordination with Community Resource Center's bilingual counseling and emergency shelter programs on Second Street. The City of Solana Beach has contracted with the San Diego County Sheriff since incorporation, gaining access to the same COPPS team, ASTREA helicopter support, and Crime Suppression Team resources available to the neighboring Encinitas and Del Mar contracts. E-bike safety enforcement has become a growing priority for the station's traffic deputies across all three contract cities, with community outreach sessions drawing participation from residents and faith-based partners including Seacoast Community Church. The North Coastal Station's dispatch routes through the North County Dispatch Joint Powers Authority in Rancho Santa Fe, which provides consolidated emergency communications for 15 fire and law enforcement agencies across northern San Diego County.
