Protector Brewery Hide Site in downtown San Diego's Marina District is a veteran-owned, 100-percent USDA-certified organic craft brewery that opened its waterfront tasting room inside the InterContinental San Diego hotel in June 2024. Thirty-five taps pour the brewery's all-organic ales and lagers alongside rotating guest beers, wines, meads, ciders, and hard kombucha — a beverage breadth that extends well beyond the craft-beer-only draft lists at tasting rooms like Bay City Brewing Co Tasting Room elsewhere downtown. An in-house gourmet pizza kitchen turns out six signature thin-crust recipes including the Frogman with roasted chicken and pesto, named for the Navy SEAL heritage of founder and head brewer Sean Haggerty, who developed his brewing process during a third deployment to Iraq. The 1,700-square-foot interior opens onto a 500-square-foot bay-facing patio with fire pit and belly-up bar delivering panoramic harbor views — a waterfront brewery format without precedent on the North Embarcadero, where Mission Brewing - East Village's tasting room operates farther inland. All production at the Miramar headquarters uses 100-percent USDA-certified organic hops, malts, and yeast on a renewable-energy-powered brewing system, making Protector San Diego's sole fully organic brewery from grain to glass.
