About

Princess Pub & Grille in downtown San Diego's Little Italy has anchored the corner of India and Date streets since 1984, operating continuously under British ownership as one of the city's earliest dedicated import-ale pubs. The tap program pours one of San Diego's deepest rosters of European ales and cask-conditioned bitters, a transatlantic draft focus that contrasts with the West Coast IPA lineup at Ballast Point Brewing on Harbor Drive. Three outdoor patios wrap the building at Piazza della Famiglia level, seating diners where Little Italy stages live music, salsa nights, and its annual tree-lighting ceremony. The kitchen runs a scratch-made British menu of bangers and mash, shepherd's pie, and beer-battered cod, the same chip-shop frying tradition upheld by Waterfront Bar & Grill on Kettner Boulevard. The anchor plate is the carved Sunday roast — slow-roasted beef or leg of lamb served with Yorkshire pudding, roasted potatoes, vegetable medley, and house-made bistro gravy.
