About

Little Italy Association of San Diego in downtown San Diego's Little Italy district was established in 1996 as the only district-management corporation of its kind for any Little Italy neighborhood in the United States (501(c)(3), EIN 33-0752255). The association administers both the Business Improvement District and the Community Benefit District across 48 square blocks on India Street and Kettner Boulevard — a dual-governance structure shared with few peer organizations, including the Gaslamp Quarter Association to the south. Five public piazzas — Piazza della Famiglia, Basilone, Pescatore, Giannini, and Costanza — anchor an event calendar that includes the annual Festa and the weekly Mercato farmers' market along India Street. Clean-and-safe patrols funded through CBD assessments maintain the streetscape between Date Street and Ash Street, complementing the broader downtown maintenance operated by Downtown San Diego Partnership Clean & Safe. The association's largest infrastructure achievement is Piazza della Famiglia — a 10,000-square-foot Italian-inspired public square at Date and India streets that hosts seated events for up to 900 guests with bay views and full restaurant buyout capability.
