The Kebab Shop on Beech Street in downtown San Diego brings the San Diego-born chain's 2007 “New-School” Mediterranean format to the neighborhood's northern edge near Little Italy. The vertical-rotisserie döner program shaves seasoned beef and lamb into wraps, bowls, and plates dressed with proprietary white and hot sauces, a build-your-own format that runs parallel to the Italian small-plate assembly at Davanti Enoteca Little Italy nearby. Falafel, hummus, and tabbouleh round out a vegetarian side of the menu built entirely from scratch. The catering menu packages wraps and platters for office deliveries and group orders, serving a midday lunch market that overlaps with the New American crowd at Kettner Exchange on the same stretch of Kettner Boulevard. The family meal platter — a full spread of döner, chicken, rice, salad, sauces, and pita — is the largest single order and feeds four to six.
