Ristorante Illando

Italian & Pizza

About

Ristorante Illando in downtown San Diego's Little Italy is a second-story Tuscan trattoria at 1825 India Street, opened in 2016 by Florence native Leo Landini and his wife Christine as the sit-down complement to the Landini's Restaurant Group. The kitchen shares a building with the group's flagship Landini's Pizzeria downstairs, but runs its own handmade-pasta program—spaghetti carbonara with pancetta and egg, pappardelle bolognese, and lobster-and-crab ravioli in vodka cream. A private reserve wine cellar features hand-selected Italian bottles including Castello di Verrazzano Super Tuscan and Melini Chianti Classico DOCG, available by the glass during service. The intimate upstairs dining room and backyard patio seat roughly 50 guests, and full-venue buyouts convert the space for wedding rehearsal dinners and private events. Seasonal specials rotate Florentine-steak preparations and seafood lasagna layered with bechamel, fresh crab, and lobster, drawing from the same Italian-wine-and-small-plates format refined at Pali Wine Co. on India Street.
