AMICIBAR in downtown San Diego's Little Italy district is the only nonprofit cafè in the neighborhood, operated by Convivio, the Italian cultural organization founded in 2003 that runs heritage programming from the adjacent Amici House on Date Street. The historic cottage housing the espresso bar was relocated in 2014 to its current site beside the Little Italy Dog Park and bocce courts, a building that originally belonged to a prominent local fishing family and now anchors the same India Street cultural corridor as Solunto Restaurant & Bakery. The outdoor espresso bar pulls shots from a locally roasted seven-bean blend and serves varietal teas, pastries, smoothies, and a rotating food menu, with all proceeds funding Convivio's arts, culture, and education programs in the community. A membership program gives regulars member-rate drinks while sustaining the same Italian heritage programming that fuels events at fellow India Street cafè Tazza D'Oro nearby. The cottage doubles as Little Italy's visitor and heritage center, hosting film screenings, live music, workshops, and cultural presentations in the courtyard space adjacent to the Saturday farmers market.
