Achilles Coffee Roasters Gaslamp in downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter occupies a ground-floor suite in the 4th and J Apartments at 372 Fourth Avenue, a location the company opened in October 2021 on the former site of the old Cost Plus building. The pour-over bar stocks the same 13-coffee rotating single-origin selection available across all five Achilles locations, roasted weekly at the downtown San Diego roastery and served one block from the Pendry Hotel on the Fourth Avenue corridor shared by Spill The Beans Coffee and Bagels. House-made syrups and single-origin espresso pulls distinguish the drink program from chain competitors in the Gaslamp, while the full breakfast-and-lunch kitchen turns out burritos, scrambles, pancakes, and waffles for the Convention Center and Marina District foot traffic. The quiet, laptop-ready interior offers indoor and outdoor seating with free Wi-Fi, filling a workspace gap in the Gaslamp that the surrounding nightlife and dining venues leave unserved during morning hours, much as Parfait Paris does for the pastry-and-coffee crowd nearby. Walk-in catering orders serve the hotel and residential population that has filled the Gaslamp's newer mixed-use towers since the block's 2017 redevelopment.
