About

Located inside Suite 290 at 445 Marine View Ave in Del Mar, CA 92014, the Lindamood-Bell San Diego Learning Center is a women-owned tutoring and literacy program that has served North County families for more than 34 years. Lindamood-Bell specializes in evidence-based, one-to-one instruction for students of all ages who struggle with reading, comprehension, spelling, and math — including those diagnosed with dyslexia, autism spectrum disorders, and other learning challenges. Every engagement begins with a Learning Ability Evaluation that identifies an individual's sensory-cognitive strengths and weaknesses, and recommended instruction is then differentiated to target those specific needs. The organization's proprietary programs, developed by co-founder Nanci Bell, focus on building the imagery-language foundation that underlies reading fluency and comprehension. Research collaborations with MIT and the University of Alabama at Birmingham continue to refine the methodology, following earlier partnerships with Wake Forest and Georgetown University. Lindamood-Bell has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and featured on CNN, PBS, and NPR. Beyond learning center instruction, the Del Mar location also houses Lindamood-Bell Academy, an accredited K–12 private school offering flexible in-person and live-online enrollment. The San Diego County Library – Del Mar Branch is a popular complement for families reinforcing reading skills outside of sessions. Marine View Avenue sits just off Camino Del Mar in the heart of the village, making it easy to grab a coffee at Starbucks Coffee Company while waiting for a session to wrap up.
