About

Inside Hotel Del Coronado at 1500 Orange Avenue, Serea Coastal Cuisine runs Coronado Island's signature sea-to-table program, sourcing sustainable Pacific seafood from the California coast through the Baja Peninsula. The restaurant replaced the former 1500 Ocean concept in 2019 through a partnership with Clique Hospitality, installing a kitchen that holds both James Beard Smart Catch certification and Surfrider Foundation ocean-stewardship recognition inside the Hotel del Coronado, the 1888 resort that remains Coronado's most recognized landmark. The menu spans a raw bar with rotating oyster selections and crudo, whole fish presented grilled or fried tableside, and seasonal market plates accented with Mediterranean technique — all built around the executive chef's emphasis on ocean-to-plate traceability. An ocean-view terrace and the indoor-outdoor Sunset Bar frame the lower level of the resort's Victorian building, pairing hand-crafted cocktails and an eclectic wine selection with panoramic Coronado Beach sightlines. Weekend brunch adds lobster Benedict on toasted brioche and Mediterranean-inflected egg dishes to the coastal repertoire, rounding out a fine-dining program on Orange Avenue that includes the French-American brunch scene at Little Frenchie three blocks north. The kitchen's most technically demanding offering is the whole-fish tableside presentation, in which a market catch — typically branzino or striped bass — arrives filleted, deboned, and plated over a seasonal vegetable bed with lemon-caper emulsion.
