About

Since 1955, Parkway Aquatic Center in Chula Vista has operated a heated outdoor pool on Park Way, making it one of the longest-running municipal aquatic facilities in the South Bay. The year-round heated pool runs programming mirrored at the city's second public facility, Loma Verde Aquatic Center, though Parkway's temperature-controlled indoor changing rooms distinguish the Park Way location. Group swim lessons start at six months of age and extend through adult levels, and the center also hosts water fitness classes, lap swim, water walking, and competitive water polo. The women-owned operation runs a certified lifeguard training course that meets City of Chula Vista employment prerequisites, producing candidates eligible for municipal aquatic staffing positions. Cross-training swimmers supplement pool sessions with land-based conditioning at Chuze Fitness, whose cardio and weight floors complement the aquatic center's low-impact programming. USA Swimming-affiliated club practices and regulation water polo scrimmages occupy the competition-depth lanes during designated training blocks.
