Loma Verde Aquatic Center in Chula Vista reopened in 2023 after a $20.8 million renovation funded by Measure P sales-tax revenue and federal American Rescue Plan Act dollars, replacing the original 1971 pool complex with a 47,175-square-foot aquatic facility on Loma Lane. The competition pool spans 50 meters with 10 long-course lanes, 22 short-course lanes, two one-meter springboards, and a configurable championship water polo course — a capacity that supports injury-recovery lap programs coordinated with Sports Performance Physical Therapy - Chula Vista. A separate instructional pool heated to 85-87 degrees Fahrenheit serves the city's group swim lesson program, which enrolls more than 3,000 participants annually. The adjacent 620-square-foot splash pad and classroom/party room with retractable overhead doors round out a facility that complements the youth recreation pipeline feeding into Compass Gymnastics and other structured activity programs. Equipment available for competition hosting includes electronic touch pads, a scoreboard-video screen system, and backstroke-flag rigging across the full 50-meter competition course.
