About

Chartered in 1960, the South Bay Family YMCA on Paseo Magda is Chula Vista's longest-operating nonprofit fitness facility and part of the YMCA of San Diego County association. The current building, constructed in 1998, houses two cross-training centers, heated pools, and more than 90 weekly group exercise classes—an aquatics depth matched in scope by the municipal programming at Loma Verde Aquatic Center. Youth development programming includes swim instruction, summer day camps, sports leagues, and on-site Child Watch supervision for members with young children. Senior-specific fitness tracks and adaptive programming for neurodiverse participants extend the facility's reach beyond standard gym membership, an inclusive approach to community wellness also reflected in the youth martial arts classes at White Dragon Martial Arts. Membership operates under the YMCA's join-one-join-all reciprocity model, granting access to every YMCA of San Diego County branch through a single enrollment.
