Vanessa's Deli on Chula Vista's F Street has served Mexican comfort food since its 2001 founding at the southwest corner of Broadway and F Street. The kitchen runs a dual-concept model—fruteria counter on one side, full Mexican grill on the other—sourcing many of its dried chiles, masa, and seasonal produce from Carnival Supermarket on the same Broadway corridor. Breakfast plates anchor the morning rush with chilaquiles smothered in house-made red, green, or mole sauce, topped with cotija and sour cream, while tortas de milanesa on telera rolls carry the lunch service. The fruteria side serves elotes, chamangos, churros, and açaí bowls alongside the traditional Mexican menu, a sweet-and-savory range that mirrors the dual-format dining at The Galley further up the Broadway corridor. Tamale production scales up each December with a dedicated seasonal batch using hand-spread masa on dried corn husks, filled with slow-braised pork in red chile and steamed in commercial-capacity tamalera pots.
