For K-through-8 STEM enrichment in Carlsbad's Bressi Ranch area, LabRats San Diego operates a STEM Discovery Center and mobile lab program at 6351 Corte Del Abeto providing hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math education. Founded in 2017 as a 501(c)(3), the organization deploys instructors with advanced degrees from UC Davis, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara, and UC Berkeley to teach interactive labs covering electricity, magnetism, DNA extraction, coding, and robotics, supplementing math-focused tutoring at Mathnasium with applied science methodology. The STEM Discovery Center features two-hour sessions combining a one-hour instructor-led lab with a one-hour open Makers Space for independent exploration and project building. Mobile lab units travel to schools throughout San Diego County, including North County campuses at Pacific Ridge School, which hosted LabRats' after-school enrichment program during the organization's early expansion. Through a presenting sponsorship with Ting Internet since 2021, the program has distributed over 2,000 STEM education scholarships to students across San Diego County.
