About

Cardiovascular Disease Foundation in Carlsbad has provided free health screenings and wellness education to more than 10,000 San Diego County residents since five North County physicians and community leaders established the 501(c)(3) in 2002. The foundation's volunteer teams conduct blood-pressure, cholesterol, body-fat, and glucose screenings at community venues including Poinsettia Park, supplementing its monthly MeetUp walking groups and annual 5K Walk for Life & Free Health Fair. The James G. Murray Access to Care program connects seniors and caregivers with outpatient healthcare navigation, medical equipment resources, and care management guidance. Healthy Habits, Healthy Kids travels to youth centers and schools with interactive discovery stations that teach children the mechanics of cardiovascular function and the role of daily exercise. High-intensity cardiovascular conditioning promoted by the foundation aligns with structured fitness programming at F45 Training Carlsbad Village, extending the heart-health message beyond the foundation's own walking events. Free physician-led lectures at the Pio Pico Drive headquarters cover stroke prevention, diabetes-cardiac comorbidity, Alzheimer's-cardiovascular links, and gender-specific heart disease risk factors.
