About

Poinsettia Park in Carlsbad is a 42-acre athletic and recreation complex on Hidden Valley Road that houses the largest public tennis facility in the city with 10 lighted courts and 6 lighted pickleball courts. The tennis program serves competitive and recreational players across four social courts and two challenge courts, building out Carlsbad's racket-sport infrastructure alongside dedicated coaching programs at On The Rise Tennis Carlsbad. Three lighted baseball and softball fields, a full-size synthetic turf multi-purpose arena, and two lighted basketball courts accommodate organized league play and community tournaments throughout the year. A 27,700-square-foot off-leash dog park, the third in Carlsbad and the first with a natural grass surface, divides into a 20,000-square-foot large-dog area and a 7,700-square-foot small-dog enclosure with agility equipment, adding a family-recreation dimension that complements children's fitness programming at Calavera Hills Community Center. The multipurpose field received a synthetic turf replacement in early 2026, and playground structures are separated into zones for ages two through five and five through twelve on the park's west side.
