Sage Creek High School in Carlsbad opened in 2013 as CUSD's second comprehensive high school, built on a 40-acre Bobcat Boulevard campus that cost more than $100 million to construct. The WASC-accredited curriculum runs four-year Project Lead The Way strands in Biomedical Science, Computer Science, and Engineering, a STEM pipeline that parallels the supplemental math enrichment at Mathnasium for students seeking additional problem-solving practice. Named a 2021 California Distinguished School and a College Board AP School Honor Roll honoree, Sage Creek enrolls more than 1,400 students across grades 9–12 and competes in CIF San Diego Section athletics under the Avocado West League. Graduates pursuing STEM careers in North County often transition into applied-technology coursework at MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute, extending the district's college-and-career pathway. A 17,500-square-foot Performing Arts Center completed in 2018 houses the school's drama, choir, and instrumental music programs alongside four competitive FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams.
