Community Montessori Charter School's Carlsbad Resource Center on Embarcadero Lane provides tuition-free, publicly funded Montessori education to over 200 students in transitional kindergarten through eighth grade. Nine classrooms—two TK/kindergarten, three lower-elementary, three upper-elementary, and one adolescent 7th–8th grade community—are staffed by Montessori-credentialed and California-credentialed teachers, placing the charter within the same independent-school landscape as Pacific Ridge School on the east side of Carlsbad. Authorized by the San Diego County Office of Education, the Carlsbad Learning Center is one of five Community Montessori campuses across the county, with additional sites in Escondido, Poway, and Santee. Students rotate through language, mathematics, science, cultural studies, practical life, and sensorial work using a full Montessori materials complement, and the school's emphasis on independent research skills parallels the self-directed learning resources available at the Carlsbad City Library in the Village. Each classroom maintains a maximum enrollment of 26 students supported by one lead teacher and one assistant, with the Positive Discipline framework and individualized Learning Success Power Traits assessments structuring behavioral and academic goal-setting.
