Carlsbad High School

K–12 Schools

About

Founded in 1957, Carlsbad High School on Monroe Street is the original public high school within the Carlsbad Unified School District and enrolls approximately 2,336 Lancers in grades nine through twelve. CUSD families select between CHS and its sister campus, Sage Creek High School, through an annual lottery-based declaration process that closes each January. The campus underwent a full modernization between 2008 and 2012, adding a new stadium—Swede Krcmar Field—and replacing aging portable classrooms with permanent structures across the 92008 zip code. CIF San Diego Section Avocado West League competition drives athletics, while CTE career pathways connect upperclassmen to flight-training electives coordinated with Pinnacle Aviation Academy at nearby McClellan-Palomar Airport. Advanced Placement and Honors tracks span more than 20 subjects, supplemented by an Expanded Learning Opportunity Program and Youth Enrichment Services after the final bell. The performing arts program stages multiple full-scale productions annually in the campus theater, drawing from a student body that represents the Village, Poinsettia, and Calavera Hills feeder zones.
