Jewish Collaborative of San Diego is a post-denominational synagogue in Carlsbad's La Costa area, established in 2013 on Centella Street in the 92009 zip code. The congregation organizes around interest-based cohort groups—arts, meditation, scholarly pursuits, social action—rather than the gender- or age-based divisions of conventional synagogues, a participatory structure that parallels the community-learning ethos at Chabad at La Costa. Co-founded by Rabbi Josh Burrows and Rabbi/Cantor Gabi Arad, both graduates of Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute of Religion, the collaborative holds weekly Torah-circle readings where congregants study the portion seated together rather than from a fixed bimah. The Hebrew and Jewish Studies School operates on-site for children, one of several North County Jewish education programs alongside Temple Etz Rimon's Reform congregation in the Village. Services blend cantorial chant with congregational singing under a no-financial-barriers membership policy that waives dues for any family requesting it.
