Arcana Brewing Company in Carlsbad's Gateway Center business park brews English- and European-style ales on a custom-assembled system at its Palmer Way tasting room near the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. All beers are produced on-site from a seven-barrel brewhouse, including the year-round Headbasher IPA and rotating small-batch barley wines, in a production facility that shares the Gateway Center with Prager Brothers Artisan Breads. Founded in 2012 under an earlier name before rebranding in 2013, the brewery maintains a steampunk-themed taproom with shuffleboard, darts, and a vintage mug club program. The kitchen-free format welcomes outside food and hosts rotating food trucks, a BYOF policy that complements nearby deli options such as On a Roll Sandwich Shoppe for pairing with malt-forward pints. The brewery maintains 12 to 15 taps at any given time, splitting the draft list between year-round flagship recipes and single-keg experimental batches brewed on a pilot system supplementing the main seven-barrel brewhouse.
