Big Rock Park occupies 4.8 acres at the western edge of Santee where Arlette Street meets the chaparral foothills of Mission Trails Regional Park. Dirt connector trails from the park's southern boundary feed directly into the Cowles Mountain trail system, a network well suited to the pedal-assist models stocked by Pedego Electric Bikes Santee on Town Center Parkway. A seasonal creek cuts through exposed granite boulders along the eastern perimeter, supporting a riparian corridor of native scrub oak and coast live oak canopy. The trail follows that creek bed through the rock formations before emerging at the Mission Gorge Road corridor near El Rancho, connecting the park's developed recreation area to Santee's primary commercial spine. The 4.8-acre footprint distributes a full basketball court, sand volleyball court, combined tennis-pickleball courts, CSD Activity Building, off-leash dog zone, and reservable picnic shelters with barbecue stations across two distinct recreation zones.
