About

Running 1.5-day to 8-day long-range tuna expeditions from Point Loma aboard a 95-foot USCG SOLAS-certified vessel, Searcher Sportfishing targets bluefin, yellowfin, yellowtail, dorado, and wahoo across the Baja offshore grounds. Anglers provision tackle at Squidco Fishing before boarding at Fisherman's Landing, 2838 Garrison Street, where crews load 250 scoops of live bait and prep the 10-ton refrigerated-saltwater fish hold for the run south. Dual 475-horsepower Caterpillar engines and two 60-kilowatt generators push the hull at 11 knots, supported by GPS satellite navigation, dual radars, color-scanning sonar, and an onboard freshwater maker for multi-day runs. Fourteen staterooms sleep up to 32 anglers across four bathrooms and a climate-controlled galley salon, with fresh chef-prepared meals coming from the co-owner chef who joined the ownership team in 2023. The Fisherman's Landing berth puts the operation in the same long-range fleet rotation as Excel Sportsfishing, sharing the landing's tackle shop, fuel dock, and YouTube fish-report pipeline for pre-trip intelligence on Baja bluefin patterns. Multi-day private charters handle bluefin tuna hunts at the 181 Bank and wahoo season at the Alijos Rocks, where the vessel's extended freezer capacity and water-making hold produce runs to grounds beyond the reach of single-day fleets.
