About

Shaping high-performance shortboards since 1992, Sharp Eye Surf Boards in Point Loma runs its international headquarters and production facility on Hancock Street in the Midway District. The operation shares the Hancock Street shaping corridor with custom builders like Anvil Surfboards, but Sharp Eye's output focuses exclusively on competition-grade shortboards ridden by WSL Championship Tour surfers including Jack Robinson and Tatiana Weston-Webb. Key models — the Disco, Synergy, Inferno 72, and #77 — are built around a flat-to-concave bottom contour philosophy that prioritizes speed through critical sections. A signature fin template co-developed with Futures and FCS translates the same bottom-contour geometry into aftermarket hardware, giving riders a matched foil-to-hull package. That fin-to-board integration pipeline sets the label apart from shaper-direct operations like Ben Milano Surfboards, which build one-off customs without a proprietary fin program. Full team-rider R&D builds — prototype shapes tested through Championship Tour heats before catalog release — represent the shop's most design-intensive production cycle.
