About

Heinrich Surfboards in Point Loma hand-shapes every custom board from the former Tiger G glassing factory on Pacific Highway, building without CNC pre-shaping since 2015. Classic plan shapes — fish, eggs, mid-lengths, and longboards — receive modern foil refinements and alternative fin setups, extending the same hand-planed philosophy that defines Anvil Surfboards across the peninsula. Several hundred completed boards over the past decade demonstrate range across shortboard-to-longboard categories, with each shape receiving hand-finished rail profiles and bottom contours. Four- to eight-week turnaround windows account for custom template development, blank selection, glassing, sanding, and final inspection. Boards that leave the shaping bay use standard polyester-resin layups engineered for field-repairability, matching the same cloth weights and catalyst ratios that Nick's Surfboard Repair stocks for Hancock Street ding work. Full-custom gun shapes for overhead point-surf and reef-break conditions represent the most technically demanding commissions, requiring precise rocker mapping and reinforced tail-patch lamination.
