About

Operating from the same America's Cup Harbor dock since 1963, Point Loma Seafoods in Point Loma, San Diego combines a full-service retail fish counter with a casual counter-order restaurant at 2805 Emerson Street. Fish arrives daily from local sportfishing boats, importers, and brokers, and the in-house smokehouse runs real hickory-wood fires for 8 to 12 hours per batch — a from-scratch smoking operation that supplies the smoked-fish case alongside the raw-cut fillets and whole fish displayed in the same harbor-view building where Fathom Bistro, Bait, and Tackle serves the adjacent pier. The 2019 rebuild replaced the original 7,904-square-foot structure with an 11,306-square-foot two-story facility under a 40-year Port of San Diego tidelands lease, adding a Cannery Row-style upper patio with views of San Diego Bay, Shelter Island, and the downtown skyline. Breaded-not-battered fish sandwiches on sourdough, clam chowder, crab sandwiches, and a sushi counter round out a menu that has defined the Point Loma seafood search for six decades. The retail market and restaurant share the working waterfront with full-service dining at Vessel Restaurant, but Point Loma Seafoods remains the neighborhood's original dock-to-plate operation. Party platters and whole-fish orders scale for private events, with smoked-fish trays and raw-bar builds assembled to order from the harbor-side counter.
