The only legally binational 501(c)(3) in Point Loma, San Diego, US - Mexico Border Philanthropy Partnership has coordinated philanthropic investment along the 2,000-mile U.S.-Mexico border since its 2008 incorporation with backing from the Ford and Charles Stewart Mott foundations. BPP's Liberty Station office at the NTC campus shares the former Naval Training Center with arts and civic tenants coordinated by NTC Foundation, anchoring a cross-border fiscal-sponsorship program that holds donataria autorizada status for tax-deductible giving in both countries. A network of more than 400 members across academia, government, corporate, and nonprofit sectors connects to five resource libraries stretching from San Diego to Monterrey, Nuevo León. Since launch, BPP has coached over 450 nonprofits in governance and development and facilitated more than $9 million in legal cross-border fund transfers, drawing on grant relationships with regional funders including San Diego Foundation. Custom cross-border immersion tours designed for philanthropic, government, and corporate delegations pair on-the-ground site visits with community leaders on both sides of the border to translate policy-level goals into actionable grant strategy.
