Philadelphia-founded School of Rock's veteran-owned Point Loma franchise teaches performance-based music at 2850 Womble Road Suite 104 inside Liberty Station. The parent brand launched in Philadelphia in 1998, with the current San Diego franchise taking over the corporate-owned location in September 2013 and relocating it to this Liberty Station address in April 2014, placing it a short drive from Cooper Music Center for student guitar, drum, and bass purchases on the peninsula. An independent survey of 1,443 parents conducted April-May 2025 reported that 96.2% observed a confidence boost in their child and 95.9% reported improved teamwork, both attributed to the School of Rock Method's mandatory live-band rehearsal structure. Students run weekly one-on-one lessons on guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, or vocals and then meet in assigned rehearsal bands that work toward live set performances at local all-ages venues including SOMA SAN DIEGO and other Point Loma San Diego stage circuits. The Liberty Station location runs year-round programs across Rookies (ages 3-5), Rock 101 (ages 8-12 foundation curriculum), Performance Program (ages 10-18 live-show prep), Adult Program, audition-based House Band, and summer camps, a multi-tier progression rare among franchise music schools because of the live-venue performance requirement built into every tier above Rookies.
